How Royal Family Called “Bluff” On Prince Harry's Threats

It’s one thing to publish a book you hope will put a dent in your family, it’s another to go on interviews and low-key threaten that you’ve got more salacious stories you decided to leave out. I don’t know much about blackmail but it does eerily seem like that was what Harry was trying to pull.

However, even as his publishers look forward to dropping the paperback version of his bestselling book ‘Spare’ this fall, the Royal Family is yet to react on the controversies or even talk about the book in general. It’s been silence all-round.

Since the book dropped over a year ago, Prince William, Princess Kate, King Charles, Queen Camilla, and several others are yet to publicly acknowledge its existence. Since then, Harry had taken several trips to the UK, but the rift stayed strong.

In fact, during his visit in May to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Invictus Games, the King was declared “too busy” to meet him.

Speaking on the monarchy’s approach to dealing with such betrayal from one of their own, Daily Mail’s royal editor Rebecca English said their silent approach was the best way to deal with the drama.

“As regards to the apology, what I think this boils down to is the Royal Family have called his bluff,” she said. “They haven’t reacted to any of his demands or his threats, either publicly or privately. I mean they pretty much have ignored the fact that Spare had been published.”

Comparing the publication of ‘Spare’ as Harry throwing a tantrum like a baby, English added, “It’s like don’t listen, don’t make a fuss, don’t give into it, just let it through, it’ll blow away and harmony will restore itself.”

She went on to declare that the silent approach was “the right approach.”

You’ve got to give it to the Royal Family, instead of engaging in a huge back and forth that will undoubtedly only benefit the Sussexes’ controversial brand, they’ve chosen to let it go away when it goes away.
