How Prince William Hopes To Do Things Differently As the Prince Of Wales

The Prince of Wales – that was the title that Prince William’s father held for nearly seventy years before finally passing it on to become the monarch.

However, it hasn’t been more than two years since William came onto the title and he’s already determined to change many things about it. One of the ways he’s doing it is by making the Monarchy relevant for the younger generations.

His staunch belief that homelessness is something that Britain can conquer – and perhaps even create a blueprint for other countries to follow – is one of his admirable endeavors winning hearts for him left and right.

His dedication to environmental issues – via Earthshot Prize – is another example that he’s not tone deaf to the upcoming generation, though in general, climate change is something that the Royal Family has been invested in for years.

Prince William Believes In “Impact Philanthropy”

Prince William seems to be exactly what the Monarchy needs to fully enter into the modern world. While speaking to reporters as his South African trip drew to a close, he revealed his plans to drive the Monarchy forward by doing things differently.

“I can only describe what I’m trying to do, and that’s I’m trying to do it differently and I’m trying to do it for my generation,” he told outlets. “And to give you more an understanding around it, I’m doing it with maybe a smaller R in the royal, if you like, that’s maybe a better way of saying it.”

This is proof William is not afraid of reconstructing the Monarchy and redefining the meaning of public service, while toning down some of the Monarchy’s pomp and pageantry.

“It’s more about impact philanthropy, collaboration, convening, and helping people. And I’m also going to throw empathy in there as well, because I really care about what I do. It helps impacts people’s lives. And I think we could do with some more empathetic leadership around the world.”

He’s also embracing being vulnerable with the press, as he candidly revealed how this “brutal” year has taken quite a toll on him.

“It’s been dreadful. It’s probably been the hardest year in my life. So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult,” he said in what is perhaps one of the very few times he’s been this open.
