Grotesquerie officially wrapped up its freshman season on FX this past Wednesday, October 30. The show ended on an interesting note, which has fans wondering when they should expect Season 2 to come down the pipe. But has FX renewed the series for another season? Here’s what we know so far.
Grotesquerie, Season 2 – Cancellation Or Renewal?
On all accounts, Grotesquerie first season was a complete success. The Ryan Murphy show stirred up a buzz with captivating dialogue, scenes, and storylines. It didn’t hurt the new “It” boy in television, actor Nicholas Chavez, was among the cast, playing Father Charlie.
Plus, it didn’t hurt that Niecy-Nash Betts was the lead character, which helped propel the show to mainstream audiences. Not to mention Travis Kelce’s (yes, Taylor Swifts boyfriend, who plays on some sort of sports team) recurring guest appearances.
All arrows are pointing toward a Grotesquerie renewal; however, nothing has been confirmed by FX as of yet.
Grotesquerie, Season 2 – An Unanswered Question
While some discussions may need to take place to formalize the kinks for Grotesquerie, Season 2, both Ryan Murphy and FX have already said the series was to take the form of a multi-season show.
FX is likely basking in the show’s success and could simply be in the negotiations/planning stage to set up Season 2. This can be a process in itself, but fans should rest easy knowing that another season of Grotesquerie is likely in the motion.
The show’s star, Niecy Nash-Betts recently spoke to Deadline pointing out that Grotesquerie’s Season 1 ended without Lois Tryon revealing the killer.
The actress states that this is a major “unanswered question” and she’s looking forward to finding out who Grotesquerie is, in a (potential) second season and “unpacking” it all.
If Niecy is in, then there’s a good chance FX and fans will be “all in” for a Grotesquerie, Season 2. But will it happen? Only time will tell.
