The mob boss was out for blood, and he made it clear to both Dex and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) that this wouldn’t be the last they saw of him.
Prepared to “empty a gun” into both their heads, Sonny’s position on Dex may have reversed course since that moment, but the way he feels about Jason has only intensified.
He was hoping Jason would grab hold of the olive branch he thought he offered in wanting to buy him out of the coffee business.
But as it turns out, Jason is more entrenched than ever in protecting Sonny. It’s too bad his former brother in arms mother doesn’t feel the same way about him.
When Jason refused to part ways with Corinthos Coffee as a means of staying out of Sonny’s way, he was declaring war with him, as far as Sonny is concerned anyway. Jason is looking out for his best friend — that is still how he sees Sonny.
But Sonny is looking out for number one, and he can’t stand the thought of continuing to bump into Jason or dealing with him for even a smidgen of the work on his plate. Is there any other way to extract him from this situation that doesn’t bring forth violence?
Right now, to many people, it looks like Sonny ordered a hit on Jason. Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), in particular, is going to take issue with this. She was concerned right away when Sonny told her “whatever happens next is on Jason.”
She knew what that meant in Sonny speak, and the last thing she ever wants to endure again is losing Jason.
Moreover, she knows Sonny isn’t himself right now and the real Sonny would never forgive himself for hurting Jason. But everything isn’t what it seems.
As it appears Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) is actually responsible for ordering this hit, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) may have to keep that close to her chest while she investigates him — and Pikeman.
That means it’ll continue to look like it was all Sonny’s doing, leaving Carly concerned that her ex may strike again.
Of course, there is a chance that Carly’s discussion with Sonny actually stirred something deep inside of him. We all know how this guy operates. If he was going to take Jason out, he would’ve tried to do it already.
Carly is going to assume that’s what has happened here with Valentin’s ordered hit on the man she really loves — her best friend, Jason. Is Sonny actually holding back because this isn’t what he really wants?
Is his internal struggle to reconnect with himself while improperly medicated and unaware of it going to win out in the end, or will he do something much more reckless in the meantime?
