General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) thinks she can save Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and get him out from under Special Agent John ‘Jagger’ Cates’ (Adam Harrington) thumb by colluding with a known and convicted criminal — Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure).
As charming as he may be, Carly shouldn’t be so quick to trust such a traitorous man who very likely could have killed her had he not been interrupted and apprehended. Is Carly overestimating how much Jack is crushing on her?
Will his interest in her visits to him in Pentonville really compensate for all he could stand to lose by letting her in on anything that he knows about Pikeman or Jagger?
Carly’s intention to collude with Jack may not get her as far as she had hoped. While she likely respects that he was straightforward enough to let her know she shouldn’t and cannot trust him, something about his overt frankness made her feel all the more comfortable doing so.
His insider knowledge of how the FBI operates is just what Carly needed to hear. Suspecting that the FBI was unlikely to turn their cheek to the evidence against her in trade for Jason’s cooperation and help the last two and a half years, she needed confirmation from someone who would know their motives better than she does — and that’s just what Jack gave her.
At the same time, his words ended up casting more doubt on her plan to keep quiet and not turn herself in. Can she really do that now?
As usual, when Carly inserts herself into a messy situation — even with the best of intentions — it usually blows up in a way that requires Jason to fix all of the errors she unknowingly made along the way because she wasn’t working with the whole picture and was oblivious to that fact.
Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) is a brilliant attorney and wasn’t wrong to call this issue to Carly’s attention. Of course, the truth that Carly already knew this was written all over her face.
It never pans out well in the end, so Carly should sit tight and not poke this bear, but we can expect she’s not going to take that advice to heart. In the end, it’ll be Jason who pays for Carly’s big heart that just wanted to help him.
Hearing from Jack that the FBI wasn’t likely to make good on their end of the deal with Jason left Carly completely gutted.
Still, when she posed that concern to Jason, she left her conversation with Jack out of it. Is that because she intends to follow up with him and seek further help from a convict to free Jason from the FBI’s chains?
It doesn’t sound like her promise to stay out of it and let him finish the job he agreed to do is going to stick. But will working with Jack only leave Jason in a worse position, and consequently leave Jason and Carly further apart than ever?
