While it’s true that they both have their fathers and extensive family to lean on during this crisis, their mom — Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) — was their number one supporter and cheerleader. Moreover, she was their primary caretaker.
Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) has led a pretty dangerous life and agreed long ago to keep his distance from his son to appease Sam — an arrangement that has been finessed in recent months.
Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) has been busy with work and now hitting the campaign trail; sadly, Scout hasn’t been his top priority. These two somewhat absent fathers could become full-time dads, but some fans think that’s not what lies ahead. Are they right?
The election is right around the corner and Drew is likely to be floored when he wins. It’s all he’s been working for, but now that he has a daughter to raise on his own, taking up the mantle in Washington, D.C. may seem like a rather burdensome job to take on in the midst of Sam dying.
Furthermore, moving Scout out of the town and home she loves in the middle of such grief isn’t going to sound like a very wise move. But what’s a new Congressman to do? Well, he’s probably going to leave his child behind and see her on the weekends like he always has. But who will he leave her with?
Danny is handling things a bit better than expected. He’s not lashing out. He’s not angry. Maybe he’s in shock, but he’s taking his role as big brother to Scout pretty seriously and he may be inclined to want to stick with her wherever she’s at.
That means another point for keeping her in Port Chuck. As for Danny, will he settle in at the Quartermaine’s with Scout instead of moving in with his own father? Just because Sam is gone doesn’t mean Jason’s lifestyle is suddenly suited for being a full-time dad.
Of course, the Quartermaine mansion door will always be open to Scout and Danny. They are Q’s after all. But Danny and Scout have had a home with Sam for years in the penthouse she shared with Jason, and then Drew, and most recently with Dante.
If Dante and Rocco stay there, it stands to reason that Jason and Drew may agree that Scout and Danny are better off there, too. Can they make this quasi-family work in Sam’s absence? Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to find out.
