GH Spoilers: Steve Burton Talks About “Emotional” Reunion, Potential First Airdate Revealed

General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest that it’s been a huge week for the soap, not only celebrating its 60th anniversary during an incredible primetime special but also the announcement that legendary actor Steve Burton will be returning to the show.

During the DailyDrama.com podcast, Burton revealed some interesting tidbits about his GH comeback with longtime friend and co-star Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli).

According to Burton, the timing of the announcement, which happened during the show’s 60th primetime special was “strictly” GH’s Executive Producer, Frank Valentini’s idea. Still, he does note that keeping his return a secret wasn’t easy.

Burton adds that he tried to keep a low profile in the building; however, once you start heading to makeup, hair, and wardrobe, things can be challenging. After all, walking discreetly into the building is one thing, but setting him up to go on stage is another.

During his DailyDrama.com conversation, Steve was overcome with emotion, stating that it was “incredible” going back and being welcomed by everyone. It was “amazing”.

GH Spoilers – Steve Burton’s Return Airdate

Burton recently revealed that he wrapped up his run on Days of Our Lives (DOOL) as Harris Michaels, before Christmas hit, last month.

As the daytime drama films months ahead of time, this means fans can expect to see him on the Peacock soap until about April, potentially May.

Meanwhile, Steve confirmed that he has not yet taped scenes with GH, as of yet. The ABC soap tapes about six weeks in advance, so fans could see Burton return to the land of Port Charles, as early as February, just in time for Sweeps month.

Steve was let go from the soap in November 2021, as he refused to comply with their newly established COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

His character Jason Morgan was killed off; however, while everyone assumes he’s dead because he was in some tunnels the collapsed, there’s always room for him to return to storylines, very much alive. Only time will tell.
