GH Spoilers: Sawandi Wilson Talks Soap History, Steve Burton Encounter, & 1st Person He Called After Scoring The “Isaiah” Role

General Hospital Spoilers: Sawandi Wilson Talks Soap History, Steve Burton Encounter, & 1st Person He Called After Scoring The “Isaiah” RoleGeneral Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal there’s a new doctor in town, and fans are excited about what Isaiah will bring to storylines.

He’s handsome, seems like a “good guy”, friends with Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson), and many are hoping he’ll dive into a romance sooner rather than later.

Actor Sawandi Wilson recently caught up with Soap Opera Digest (SOD) to talk about entering the land of Port Charles, and an interesting encounter with one of the daytime drama’s top stars.

General Hospital Spoilers – Sawandi Wilson Has History With The Soap

During his chat with SOD, Wilson reveals that growing up, he’d watch GH with his grandmother and grandfather, who were “huge” fans. He adds that he has major memories of wanting to watch cartoons, but eventually being roped into Port Charles storylines!

In fact, Sawandi states that his mom was the first person he called after landing the Isaiah role. Wilson notes she was crying on the phone and told him how proud his father would be (Sawandi’s dad passed away about a year ago).

The actor goes on to say that he called his sister second, and she too got emotional and was both proud and happy for him.

Interestingly enough, much like Wilson’s character, Isaiah, both his mother and his sister are in the medical field, with his mom as a registered nurse and his sister as an anesthesiologist.

Maybe they’ll be able to give him advice with Dr. Isaiah’s storylines!

GH Spoilers – Sawandi Wilson’s First Day On The Job

Wilson states that his first day on the job started at 7 a.m., and as he walked through the door, the first person he saw was Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Sawandi notes that Burton looked like he was “in the zone” but still took the time to help his new colleague find his dressing room and where to go for his hair and makeup.

As the soap films scenes out of order, the first scene Wilson shot was of Isaiah getting hit by a car, and Jason coming to his rescue.

Sawandi tells SOD he recognized Steve from his younger days of watching the show almost immediately, and that the actor was very hospitable in helping him find his way that first day in the studio!
