GH Spoilers: Sam McCall Isn’t Killed Off, Linsday Hartley Becomes Full-Time Recast?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers indicate that fans are still reeling over the news that Kelly Monaco has been fired from the soap, as Sam McCall is set to exit sometime this fall.

GH viewers aren’t only upset about the idea that Monaco is leaving, but also because reports indicate the daytime drama is expected to kill off Sam; a legacy character who’s been onscreen for over 20 years. But, could GH writers change things up a bit?

General Hospital Spoilers – Could The Show Pull A “Rebecca Herbst”?

GH spoilers suggest that viewers are raging all over social media. Both Sam and Kelly are fan favorites, and no one wants to see either of them go.

In 2011, another fan fav., Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth Baldwin) was fired from the daytime drama. Fans hit the pavement and let the soap know the mistake they were making. Thanks to the viewer outrage both on social media and in letters, Herbst was re-hired four weeks later.

A similar situation occurred in 2016 when contract negotiations stalled between Rebecca and GH, but that was rectified quickly (again, thanks to the fans) and Herbst ended up re-signing a deal with the show. Could we see the same thing happen to Kelly or Sam?

GH Spoilers – There’s Already A Recast Lined Up!

What if fans pull to keep Sam, but Kelly has already moved on to other things? The good news about the Sam character is that Monaco has a go-to recast for the role. Soap veteran Lindsay Hartley has been filling in for Kelly, now and again, since August 2020.

In fact, viewers were recently surprised during the week of August 19 when Hartley filled for Monaco during the Baby Irene Marie funeral scenes that took place.

Most viewers would agree that Lindsay provides a great version of Sam McCall when needed. If Kelly Monaco can’t be a part of the show (for whatever reason), Sam could still be around for storylines through Hartley.

At the end of the day, Sam could also be killed off but brought back to life shortly after the fact to swerve fans, and Hartley could easily slip into the role. But will the GH writers decide to go this route?
