Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) is locked up in prison, leaving her to raise yet another one of his sons, Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay). Baby Ace may be the silver lining for Laura, who has managed not to crumble despite losing Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) earlier this year.
To make matters worse, her daughter, Lulu Falconeri (Emme Rylan), is still in a coma. It’s been years since the explosion at the Floating Rib with no signs of change.
On top of that, it’s been almost a decade since her other son, Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson), has been home.
We don’t know how this woman keeps it together, but we’re betting she won’t be able to hold back the tears when she gets all three of her kids back for a reunion soon.
We haven’t been told very much about Nikolas’ time in prison. Ava Jerome (Maura West) went to see him once. That’s more than we’ve seen Laura do, though we imagine she is going to visit him and probably takes Ace, too.
Nikolas did the right thing by turning himself in as far as she is concerned, even though it hurt everyone involved and left her holding the bag raising his child. But when he is released early for good behavior, it’s going to turn Laura’s life upside down.
She wasn’t expecting Nikolas to come home so soon — hence why she and Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) followed the proper legal steps to become Ace’s legal guardians.
Will Nikolas have to petition to get his son back? Will Laura and Kevin just trust him and hand the boy over?
While all of the fans are rejoicing over Lucky’s return to Port Charles, it means a bit more to those of us who’ve been watching for decades since his first take on the sudser.
Watching Lucky grow up, fall in and out of love, make mistakes, humble himself, move away and more has left us attached. We can’t wait to hear what he’s been up to and see how he may have changed over the years.
At the same time, some of us still question why he’s been cool mostly abandoning his kids — and why everyone else is cool with it, too!
With Lucky on his way home, it’s anyone’s guess whether the chicken comes before the egg here. Will he come home and play a role in his sister coming out of her coma? Will her awakening be what brings him back? It’s too soon to say.
Will Nikolas be around already by the time she comes out of it, or does his arrival come much later? It sounds like Nikolas may be the third surprise in store for Laura, with Lulu and Lucky reuniting first.
We can’t wait to see this family looking somewhat whole again, sans Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary). Wait, what if? Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to see how this plays out.
