General Hospital Spoilers: MichaelEaston Opens Up About “Emotional” Soap ExitGeneral Hospital (GH) spoilers note that fans are still reeling over Michael Easton’s (Dr. Hamilton Finn) exit from the soap last week.

While some viewers could feel it coming, others were shocked, and the actor’s “goodbye” message on Instagram ahead of his final episode brought home the reality that Hamilton Finn was leaving Port Charles for good, despite storylines indicating he was simply going to a rehab facility for 90 days.

Easton recently caught up with Soap Opera Digest (SOD) to talk about his emotional exit from the daytime drama.

General Hospital Spoilers – Michael Easton Had Become A Staple In Port Charles

GH spoilers note that Michael Easton had a ton of history on the soap. Originally, he entered Port Charles (GH’s spinoff show) in 2001, playing Michael Morley/Caleb Morley (Stephen Clay/Silas Clay) until 2003.

Then, he made a major comeback in 2012 when he reprised his One Life to Life character, John McBain, on GH.

Shortly after that, his McBain character was scrapped, and Easton reprised his Port Charles Caleb Morley/Stephen Clay/Dr.

Silas Clay role due to the Prospect Park/ABC lawsuit controversy.Dr. Silas Clay died in the summer of 2015 and in 2016, Easton rejoined the cast playing Dr. Hamilton Finn.

GH Spoilers – Michael Easton Got Very Emotional

Easton reveals the final couple weeks he had on the show were “raw” and “draining”. He didn’t expect the news regarding his departure; however, he tells SOD that, “you do have to remove your ego from it and realize you have a job to do.”

He goes on to say that every day leading to his exit was “emotional” as he was not only “working” but saying “goodbye”.

He adds it was especially difficult to bid adieu to Josh Swickard (Harrison Chase), Jane Elliot (Tracy Quartermaine), and Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth Webber). He also notes it was hard to say goodbye and the exit happened so fast.

Easton says, “I do appreciate the writers giving me so much material going out the door, but from an actor standpoint, I would like to have had just a little more time to add a little more subtlety and a little more nuance to it.”

Easton states it “took a few days” to get past the “emotional residue” of it all. He goes on to say that his kids Jack and Lilah Bell were waiting for him after his last day to give him a “hug” as they felt he needed one. Easton points out that “everything was better from that moment on.”

Will you miss Michael Easton? Could he return as a new GH character (he’s kind of famous for this) some day?
