Walking to the gatehouse, the last thing Michael expected to see was his father holding a gun and FBI Special Agent John ‘Jagger’ Cates (Adam Harrington) bleeding out on the deck.
The burden of having this vision in his head may lead to him reaching out for someone — anyone — to confide in.
Will that friendly ear belong to Sasha Gilmore Corbin (Sofia Mattsson)? If so, will the shared secret between them drive the wedge currently lying between him and Willow only grow larger?
Before Sasha took the job as the chef of the Q residence, Michael wanted to make sure she was comfortable with the two of them seeing each other so often.
This came as a nonsensical surprise to many viewers, who lamented that there has been no focus on these two as a couple or any lingering signs of discomfort between them in ages.
After all, Sasha has gone through quite a lot in the years since her relationship with Michael ended — and did so reluctantly, on her terms. Why would she be uncomfortable now with being around him when they’ve remained friends?
Maybe that conversation was part of a bigger storyline that had yet to manifest where Michael and Sasha grow more comfortable with each other — even though they weren’t uncomfortable to begin with.
It was inevitable that Michael and Sasha would keep bumping into each other living at the Quartermaine mansion. They might have remained friends all this time, but they weren’t seeing each other every day.
Sasha wasn’t filling Michael’s belly with meals while his wife was off playing the role of a desperate housewife. Now, things have changed.
Sasha is every bit the stable and honest woman that Michael needed her to be years ago, and Willow is starting to turn into someone we barely recognize. How long until he feels the same way?
The more that Willow turns up absent and Sasha is the friendly face who is around to hear his concerns, the closer these two might become.
Now we have to wonder whether they’ll get close enough for Michael to confide in her about his father killing Cates, rather than his wife — who deserves to know the truth regardless of what she’s been up to.
Speaking of what Willow has been up to, we don’t expect that she’ll be any more present in the weeks ahead than she has been as of late.
Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) may end up taking a seat in Congress sooner than expected, and that means he’ll be leaving Willow behind in Port Chuck as he heads south to Washington, D.C. A couple of months ago, she would have embraced that distance.
Now, it may pain her enough that she finds reasons to spend more time with him or even travel to see him. Can Sasha entertain Michael’s openness while keeping the truth about Willow’s liplock with Drew to herself — or is this how it all comes out?
