GH Spoilers: Is Drew Being Written Out, Not Coming Back From Washington?

General General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that some fans of Cameron Mathison and his character Drew Cain are concerned that they may be seeing less of the actor in the future.

Mathison is legendarily busy and the fear is that he won’t be able to put as much time into GH as he has been.

Mathison made his daytime debut as sexy, complicated, Ryan Lavery on All My Children in 1998. Mathison was last seen on AMC in 2011 and ten years later he joined GH.

Three years is a short period of time on a soap but a fan on the General Hospital Reddit page remarked that Mathison’s schedule is busy with Hallmark movies (Mathinson has appeared in eight movies based on the Murder She Baked novel series for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries) and other projects, plus he’s recently gotten involved with Great American Family projects. There are only 24 hours in a day after all!

GH Spoilers – Is Drew Cain Leaving GH?

The poster commented: “I thought I had read on here (possibly read it wrong) that he would be leaving GH to focus more on the Hallmark Christmas movies.”

The fan also noted that they do not like the direction that the show is taking Drew: “CM is the only Drew I know and I understand why people don’t like him. But he is written so horribly now I don’t know how any actor could make him likable.”

The user touched on the unpopular, eye-raising storyline involving Drew’s involvement with a mother and her daughter (at different times): “I find his scenes with Willow so revolting that I credit them with jumpstarting my weight loss. I literally lose my appetite watching them.”

The user concluded with “Does this move to Washington for Drew mean that CM is leaving the show?” Other fans chimed in with their opinions with one saying the Drew’s absence would be best given how the writing has been.

One user stated “I didn’t know if they were phasing him out by making him so unpopular” and another one wrote “He used to be so above board and honorable, but these writers have turned him into a skeevy mess I’m no longer interested in watching. He brings nothing positive to the show.”

Someone else though noted that the show has contingency plans in place for circumstances like this, using the annual vacations of Genie/Finola as an example: “Cameron has outs written in his contract to allow time off for filming other projects. Christmas movie filming in 2024 probably coincided with Drew’s prison stint.”
