GH Spoilers: How Many Actresses Have Been Maxie Jones?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Maxie Jones, played by Kirsten Storms, is a legacy character on the ABC soap.

The character debuted in 1990 and her parents are former super couple Frisco Jones (Jack Wagner) and Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) Jones. There have been several actresses in the role over the years, and the character has been through many catastrophes, losses, and dramas.

On October 31, 1990, Maxie Jones was born to legendary super couple Frisco and Felicia.
Robyn Richards was in the role in 1994 for one of daytime’s most enduring and heartbreaking scenes.

Often referred to as BJ’s Story, it involved Maxie needing a heart transplant due to Kawasaki disease. Sadly, her cousin BJ Jones (Brighton Hertford) was rendered brain dead following a school bus and BJ’s dad decided to donate her heart to Maxie.

General Hospital Spoilers – Kirsten Storms’s Medical Issues

In 2005, Kirsten Storms (Belle Black, “Days of Our Lives”) took over the part. On December 27, 2023, Soap Opera Digest reported that Storms was to be replaced for an episode by television actress Nicole Paggi.

According to TheList.com, “Storms has had many health issues over the years, and in April 2022, she revealed to “GH” co-star Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) on his YouTube show “State of Mind” that she had been dealing with bipolar depression.

Before her diagnosis, she stated, “I felt alone in my feelings for so long,” but she has since gotten the correct treatment and is doing well.”

Storms has had several leaves-of-absence over the years and Paggi is the latest actress to temporarily play the role of Maxie Jones.

GH spoilers – Maxie Jones Has Been Recast

In the past daytimers Jen Lilley (Theresa Donovan, DOOL) and Molly Burnett (Melanie Jonas, DOOL) have subbed for Storms at various times.

The outlet noted that in September 2011, Soap Central reported that the show released a casting call for a female described as “25ish, sexy, hip, quirky, has vitality, charisma and personality.”

Later Soap Opera Digest reported that a show spokesperson announced “Due to illness of Kirsten Storms, the role of Maxie Jones will be temporarily recast by Jen Lilley with a first airdate of September 28.”

Lilley announced on X: “Drumroll please…I will be on ‘GENERAL HOSPITAL’ for the next couple of months!! I start tomorrow!!!!!! Not sure what else I’m allowed to say.” That two months turned into a year as Lilley stayed on until August 2012.

The New York Post reported that Storms took time off 2016 and 2018, and Molly Burnett stepped back into the role.

In 2016, UPI ran a story that noted that Storms’ hiatus from “GH” coincided with her real life divorce from husband Brandon Barash (Johnny Zaccaro; now Stefan, DOOL). The couple share a daughter.

In 2016 Michael Fairman TV reported that Burnett posted on X: “Thank u Port Charles for letting me visit. Kirsten is so talented, & created such a fun character, it was an honor to step in for a few.”

General Hospital Spoilers – Nicole Paggi Is New Maxie Jones Recast

In 2021, Storms was on hiatus and later posted on Instagram that doctors “stumbled upon a rather large, very full of fluid, cyst that was attached to the lower portion of brain … I feel very fortunate that my situation wasn’t more serious and that I had a wonderful neurosurgeon who immediately knew how to fix it.” For this period of time, Maxie was written out of the show.

In the latest recast, Nicole Paggi took over playing Maxie on “General Hospital” for one episode last month. Paggi’s is a designer and owner of the Naomi Gray jewelry line.

Paggi made a brief appearance as Maxie and is to be commended for nailing the nuances and mannerisms of the fan-loved character. “
