GH Spoilers: Gio’s Dad Isn’t Who He Thinks, But Who Is He Really?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) believes has grown up believing that man named Francis Palmieri is his father.

According to Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer), Gio’s mother Camilla Cerullo fell in love with Francis and after a brief courtship, they married. 

Francis was in the miliary and soon he was deployed in Afghanistan. Camilla discovered she was pregnant but before she could tell Francis, she received word that he died while in service.

Heartbroken, but determined to give Gio a good life, Camilla raised him alone until he was ten. Camilla was a skilled violinist and she passed that skill onto her son. But tragedy soon struck again, and Camilla passed away when Gio was only ten years old.

According to Lois, that’s when she contacted Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) who agreed to help support Gio’s love of the violin.

He even paid for Gio’s college education in New York City. But as Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) pointed out, it was surprising that Sonny never once mentioned Gio all this time.

Lois’ story seems a tad suspicious, especially now that she seems to be trying to get Gio out of Port Charles.

Gio earned his scholarship at PCU himself, and he likes it in Port Charles, so he declined Lois’ suggestion that he leave to go back to New York and play violin on Broadway show’s soundtrack.

Lois’ behavior, as well as Sonny’s secrecy, makes it seem like there’s more to Gio’s story than even he knows. It’s possible that Francis didn’t really exist at all, and Gio’s father is really Sonny himself!

Sonny has quite a few children and it seems unlikely that he would allow any child of his to be raised without him.

But what if Camilla actually had an affair with someone close to Sonny? The two most likely people that Sonny would step up for would be either Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) or Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zomprogna).

If either Jason or Dante had a brief relationship with Camilla, perhaps she ended up alone and pregnant. And that’s when Lois stepped in and told Sonny the whole story.

That would also explain why Sonny has never mentioned Gio ever since and has been bankrolling his education from afar!
