General Hospital (GH) spoilers note that Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) terrorized the land of Port Charles for many years.
He initially entered storylines in 1992 but was presumed dead in 1995 after he was in a funhouse explosion. Alas, he’d return to the canvas in 2018, only to go out in a blaze of glory, in 2023.
Mac Scorpio (John J. York) shot and killed Ryan at Wyndemere, defending Ava Jerome (Maura West). It would be challenging, to say the least, for writers to bring him back to life, but in the land of soaps, anything is possible.
GH spoilers seem to be hinting something is on the horizon. After all, the scene between Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) and Heather Webber (Alley Mills), with Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) at Esme Prince’s (Avery Pohl) grave provided some interesting insight.
Heather blamed Kevin for Esme’s passing, but moreover, she brought up the fact that Kevin “hid” Ryan from everyone for decades, when it was believed he was dead. The reign of terror Ryan unleashed on Port Charles from 2018 to his “death” in 2023 was horrific.
Not to mention the fact that during Ava and Laura Collins’s (Genie Francis) recent conversation over tea, both women acknowledged how happy they were that Ryan was dead and gone. Why place this in a scene?
Obviously, fans know that both women didn’t shed a tear when Ryan passed, especially Ava, so why bring it up again?
Could the show be foreshadowing the idea that Kevin is once again hiding Ryan somewhere and that Chamberlain is alive?
Right after Ryan had died, many fans picked up on Kevin’s odd behavior. Many fans speculated that Ryan’s soul may have passed through to Kevin at the moment of his death, or that possibly Ryan was still alive.
People grieve differently, and the entire thing was brushed under the rug over time. Kevin doesn’t exactly have a lot of scenes on the show and is more of Laura’s sidekick, so it’s hard to gauge his emotion at times.
Still, it’s interesting how Kevin didn’t exactly bond with his niece Esme during the time she stayed with them, so, did this have something to do with the fact that she was Ryan’s daughter?
It could also be that storylines centered around Esme bonding with Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) over Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay) at that time, too.
There’s always the idea that the twins switched on Wyndemere at the last moment, and Kevin was shot instead of Ryan, or that Kevin was able to “save” Ryan at some point and lock him back up in an institution like he did the last time.
Still, it’s hard for GH fans to shake the idea that Chamberlain could be alive and return at some point. It’s just what soaps do with villains!
