GH Spoilers: Carly And Jason’s Friendship – Does It Get In The Way?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) have toyed with the idea of becoming romantically involved in the past.

A few years ago, they almost married when Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) was believed to have died. And they made it clear with each other that it would be a real marriage.

But then Sonny returned and disappeared for several years. And now that Jason’s back, the two of them seem content to remain friends.

General Hospital Spoilers – Jason Morgan Always Puts Carly Spencer First!

The reason that Jason was gone for almost three years is because he was being blackmailed by the FBI into working undercover for them. They had evidence that could send Carly in prison for 20 years and Jason would not let that happen.

So he sacrificed all that time and let everyone he loves believe he was dead. All for Carly. Of course, that didn’t sit well will Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) who has dealt with Carly’s interference in her own relationship with Jason for years. Carly also interfered with Jason and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst).

GH Spoilers – Is Friendship Holding Carly Spencer And Jason Morgan Back?

On one hand, it’s refreshing to see such a strong relationship that doesn’t necessarily rely on sex or romance. Carly and Jason work best when they are “platonic soulmates” and that never going to change. 

It automatically makes their individual romantic relationship that much more difficult. Both Sam and Elizabeth have experienced firsthand how Carly interferes with Jason’s love life. There’s no reason to think that it won’t happen the next time Jason becomes involved with someone.

Carly and Jason have never quite managed to figure out how to maintain their unique bond while having relationships with other people. Anyone that Jason gets involved with will have understand that Carly will always come first.

Carly needs to stop taking advantage of Jason. Just because Jason will always come when she asks doesn’t mean she needs to call on him just to prove that she comes first.

They need to have a serious conversation about boundaries and Carly needs to actually listen. But knowing Carly, it will fall on deaf ears and nothing will change.
