General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal Ava Jerome (Maura West) was all too quick to jump into hot water to help Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) out, and fans are divided over whether that was purely organic or not.

Ava has spent years distancing herself from the mob — even going to the extent of keeping her family at arms’ length when her brother and sister were still wrapped up in the mob.

She wanted nothing to do with it, and she’s always seemed a bit uncomfortable with the threat that comes with Sonny’s line of work.

Yet when she saw him in trouble — and saw an in for herself — she took it. Is Ava suffering from bored housewife syndrome as she lives out her days under lock and key between Sonny’s penthouse and the gallery?

Why did she go out on this limb for Sonny? The answer to that may begin to come to the surface in the days ahead.

Ava hasn’t felt this inner circle in a while. She has to admit she relished the opportunity to defend her purpose in being at the warehouse meeting with Selina Wu (Lydia Look).

Ava was never keen on the mob life her family brought her up in, and she didn’t want that for her own children.

Nevertheless, here she is, and she’s starting to see that forming an alliance with Sonny over the last few years has only benefited her. How much farther can she take this alliance — especially if Sonny is convinced he needs her for once, instead of the other way around?

Ava already has a comfy spot at the penthouse secured. She’s in no hurry to end her living arrangement with Sonny.

He’s in dire straits, and even if nothing else transpires of their time together, she wants the father of her child to stay safe.

With Nina Reeves Corinthos (Cynthia Watros) out of the way, the door is wide open for Ava to make good use of Sonny’s loneliness and vulnerability.

In the meantime, she just might make a name for herself in the mafia circles Sonny runs in as she plays his number two.

Above all else, Ava won’t jeopardize her daughter’s safety — at least we don’t think she will. Sonny is always in danger because of his line of work.

At any time, Avery Corinthos (Grace Scarola) could lose her father. Weighing the pros and cons might sound easy — since Ava would never want her daughter to lose her mother either — but she also knows how dangerous life would become for both of them without Sonny’s protection.
