During his chat with his co-stars Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli) and on-screen dad Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) he said he thought landing the role was a long shot.
He shared the story of how his mother stumbled upon an open casting call for a modeling agency in Chicago. Despite his initial hesitation, he eventually agreed to take some classes—thanks to her incredible persuasion!
After a year of training, he dove into the IMTAs, participating in various acting and modeling competitions.
At just 12 years old, they headed to California, where his life took a turn; he performed well and got an agent, which opened the door to self-tapes and auditions. Then, just six months later, the audition for GH appeared on the horizon.
They knew it was a bit of a gamble, but they decided to take the plunge anyway! Just ten days later, they received the exciting news about an in-person audition.
Embracing the challenge, Asher, though a bit anxious, confidently walked into the studio for his moment of truth—and emerged triumphant with his very first role!
Asher shared that his mother, a former theater major, is bursting with pride for her son. Even though he resides in Chicago, he makes the journey back and forth for his ongoing part on the ABC soap opera.
Asher is the tenth actor to play Danny since the character’s creation in 2012, and the fifteenth if you include the twins. Jason and Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) got married on September 22, 2011, and left for their honeymoon in Hawaii in early October.
During the honeymoon, Sam became pregnant with Jason’s baby, but she only found out on New Year’s Eve after taking a pregnancy test.
Franco, (originally James Franco) had a strange fixation on Jason; he followed them on their honeymoon and played a cruel trick, making them think Sam had been raped.
He later retracted this when the character returned, played by Roger Howarth, saying it was a sick joke; he later became known as Franco Baldwin.
At first, people thought Danny was Jason and Sam’s child because of a paternity test; Sam dealt with severe morning sickness and some cramping, along with a lot of stress.
Later, in late April to early May, Sam was kidnapped at gunpoint by Lt. Ronnie Dimestico (Ronnie Marmo) but was rescued by Det. John McBain (Michael Easton).
After Jason was presumed dead for the first time, Dr. Silas Clay (Michael Easton) found out that baby Danny had leukemia, leading to a search for a bone marrow donor.
Julian Jerome (William DeVry), who was in witness protection as Derek Wells, turned out to be a match, revealing that he was Sam’s biological father.
Danny recovered and has not had any leukemia issues since, although Julian stored some of his bone marrow just in case.
