A modern-day Robin Hood, he skirts the law and convinces himself the people he’s robbing blind deserve it, so it’s okay. While some fans are questioning this more sinister and sneaky side of Lucky, we think they may need a reminder that Lucky hasn’t been squeaky clean in a very long time.
Make no mistake, Lucky has always had a heart of gold, even back before he was interested in chasing gold. Watching him mend Elizabeth Baldwin’s (Rebecca Herbst) heart after finding her shattered in the park, having been brutally raped, was a crowning moment for GH fans.
We felt it brought things full circle, and we knew it would lead to him learning the truth about how his parents’ relationship really first began. For a guy who couldn’t stand how his dad once treated his mom, he sure did become the spitting image of him.
Folks, Lucky was nothing short of abusive to Liz during their marriage. He didn’t help matters by spiraling out of control into addiction.
Cheating on her with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) wasn’t exactly what she signed up for when they said their vows.
Everyone was so quick to rejoice when Elizabeth enforced boundaries with Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) after finding him drunk with a bar fly in his lap, but many of those same fans are now hoping she’ll overlook similar behaviors from Lucky from years ago.
Does time really heal all wounds? It appears it has for some of our fans. I’ll admit it. I’m one of them, but my heart is always aching for more nineties-style GH.
Steering clear of Lucky was about more than breaking the cycle of abuse. Luke may have raped Laura, and Lucky may have healed hearts when he helped Elizabeth recover from being raped, but then he dragged her through hell as her husband.
More importantly, Lucky didn’t just abandon his vows; he abandoned his son. Really, he abandoned his children. From the get-go, he agreed to be a father to Cameron ‘Cam’ Webber (William Lipton), but when things weren’t working with Liz anymore, he dipped out.
His parentage to Jake Spencer (Hudson West) was in name only to cover for Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) actually being his father. But enters his real, biological son, Aiden Webber (Tristan Riggs), and he’s missing in action.
Being a deadbeat husband and a deadbeat dad earned Lucky a spot off the canvas for the last ten years. What can he do with this comeback to earn his place in Liz and Aiden’s lives?
