He knows better, certainly. Finn stands to lose quite a lot, and it’s not as though he’s incoherent at this stage.
He’s just started to dip his toes back into the waters of alcoholism, but he’s quickly defending his choice to do so, too. Will he be able to maintain the moderate drinking habit he thinks he just stumbled upon, or will one glass quickly turn into one bottle of booze?
Moreover, if concerns about his career and relationship with Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) aren’t at the top of his mind, what about his daughter — Violet Finn (Jophielle Love)?
The fans have been dreading this moment for years. We still remember Finn’s dalliance with Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn). We still remember his struggles with addiction, and we rejoiced when he returned strong to his ground game in medicine.
We cheered him on when he was at the peak of his career finding a cure for Blackwoods Syndrome. But alas, the higher he rose, the further he had to fall — and now we’re preparing ourselves to witness it.
At the same time, the fans are giving praise for how well he’s portraying the reality of addiction and how just one sip can set you so far back.
We are expecting a whirlwind of events to send Finn cascading backward as he risks losing his daughter, his girlfriend, and possibly his career, too.
Elizabeth isn’t messing around. As soon as she noticed Finn was drinking, she wasn’t concerned about his well-being. Rather, she was worried about Violet. Someone has to be. There’s a pretty strong chance that Elizabeth will fight Finn on this.
He’s not going to want to let go of his little girl when he’s already just lost his father, Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison). But Finn may back down enough to realize Elizabeth is right about what is best for Violet while he gets his act together — or doesn’t.
Will Elizabeth take Violet off his hands and leave him with no routine or structure that makes him feel like he needs to get up each day and get better?
If Elizabeth gives Finn a reprieve to get his act together, it could leave the door open for Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) to return to Port Charles asking for her daughter back.
Hayden has left well enough alone for years now since abandoning Violet. To be fair, Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) had her convinced her life — and possibly her daughter’s — was in danger at the time.
Not willing to expose her little girl to any risk, she left town and hasn’t been heard from since. No one even knows if she’s alive.
So if she reappears just in time to take advantage of Finn’s relapse and take Violet back at a time he has no solid ground to stand on, Elizabeth will be shocked.
Will she fight her sister to keep her niece? Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to find out.
