Fans of actor Tyler Christopher, best known for his soap opera roles on Days of Our Lives (DOOL) and General Hospital (GH) continue to mourn his death.
His former colleague and friend (Maurice Benard, GH’s Sonny Corinthos) shockingly announced the news of his passing via social media, which occurred on October 31, 2023.
At the time, the cause of death was unknown. Now a new report provides closure for Tyler Christopher’s family, loved ones, and fans around the reason behind his passing.

As per the Medical Examiner’s Office report, which was revealed by TMZ, the soap star’s cause of death was noted as positional asphyxia due to acute alcohol intoxication. A contributing condition was also cited in the report as coronary artery atherosclerosis.
In essence, Tyler passed away when he suffocated, and it looked like alcohol, plus, how he was positioned, played a role in his death; with the “coronary artery atherosclerosis” being like a “plaque” build-up in his arteries. His death has been listed as accidental.
As per a TMZ report, Mr. Christopher was found dead in his San Diego residence by a friend. His pal had been trying to reach him for a while. His body was discovered in this bedroom, and 9-1-1 was called.

Christopher passed away at the age of 50, leaving behind two children, a 14-year-old son and an eight-year-old daughter.
He’s best known for his work on GH, playing the infamous role of Nikolas Cassadine, a character he portrayed on and off for two decades. Still, he also made a major impact in the land of Salem playing another villain on DOOL, Stefan DiMera, from 2017 to 2019.
Over the years, Tyler received four Daytime Emmy nods for his GH role as Nikolas Cassadine, snagging the award in the Lead Actor category in 2016. Meanwhile, he also received a Daytime Emmy nomination for his work on DOOL, in the Lead Actor category, in 2019.
