If you happen to hear that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in Colombia, well, know they’re there because the current Vice-president Francia Marquez invited them after watching their Netflix docuseries.
There’s also the backdrop that they’re visiting to see the culture and people of the country and to highlight one of their most important causes: online bullying.
However, apart from most of the locals thinking “they’re nothing special” and “who cares?”, Colombia’s former Vice-president has waded in on the conversation.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Trip To Colombia Questioned As Tour Concludes
Harry and Meghan are on their way back to their multi-million dollar mansion in Montecito to reunite with their young children following their controversial tour of Colombia.
So now that the tour has ended, there is only one question on everybody’s mind: what have they achieved.
Are they going to make people more open to traveling to the country? Likely not, they were surrounded by armed police and choppers at every turn, so much so as to impress upon anyone the insecurity that currently exists in the country.
If it’s not to promote the country’s cultures and values and thereby boost their tourism sector, why then did the country squeeze out millions it could have used on the starving populace to summon the ex-royals? Surely, a Netflix show isn’t going to be the only determining factor, now will it?
After all, Harry and Meghan are not known to particularly bring goodluck. Shortly after their visit to Nigeria, the West African country became embroiled in an “End Bad Governance” protest that saw innocent citizens killed by the police force in an attempt to quail it.
So what’s the hidden agenda to the Colombia tour. Former Vice-president Francisco Santos also did not understand.
Weighing in on the visit, the politician said: “I cannot understand for the life of me why they [Meghan and Harry] are here. Of all the great black politicians in South America they go to her – she’s a laughing stock.
“Who else will she bring here on the basis of watching Netflix? She will wrongly assume it will improve her public image. But there is nothing in this trip for the duke and duchess.”
Who knows? Maybe Colombia will invite them again next year.
