Based on multiple breakups in the past, this couple may still have broken up. But it almost certainly wouldn’t have been because of Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). She’s with John Finn Finnegan (Tanner Novlan), whom Steffy still believes Hope wants.

She likely would have never considered Carter if Liam and Hope were still married. Saint-Victor’s character is a good guy whose desire to have a wife has caused him to veer off-track toward Hope.

Whatever his thoughts about her two summers ago, he most likely wouldn’t have pursued her as he did Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer) because that was a different set of soapy circumstances.

If Carter’s placement of his name as the Legally Licensed Corporation’s manager were well-intended, neither Ridge nor Steffy would care. But Brooke’s relay of the reveal shines a searing daytime light on this con.

Ridge sees Carter as a betrayer and is taking action. Viewers will soon know whether that means FC will fire its COO or sue to restore order. But the Forresters aren’t going to allow Carter to take over.

Hope’s impulsive behavior put her in danger for months. Then, she acted on her feelings toward Finn and kissed him, which resulted in Steffy putting Hope on notice.

Hope’s ongoing belief that her actions shouldn’t result in consequences will extend to Brooke’s unwanted involvement in what’s become a major drama.

It wasn’t wrong for Hope to ask her mother to withhold knowledge of her relationship with Carter. But blaming Brooke for how Ridge and FC respond to him will be. That establishes a major rift that won’t be quickly resolved.
