Artem Chigvintsev & Nikki Garcia Will Get Divorced

Nikki Bella Garcia has filed for divorce from Dancing With the Stars pro-dancer Artem Chigvintsev after his arrest for alleged domestic violence. He adored their son Matteo, but it seems that even that bond between the two celebrities couldn’t hold them together.

It was the Dancing with the Stars professional dancer who dialed 911 when the arrest happened. Later, he called back and told them not to worry about dispatching EMTs. However, cops arrived and he ended up being arrested. Although the victim wasn’t initially named, fans assumed it was Nikki. So, some ABC fans thought he must have lost his mind trying to hurt Nikki, as she is a two-time WWE Divas Champion.

Not much else is known about the incident, but it seems that Matteo was at home when it went down. In the past, Nikki Garcia and Artem Chigvintsev shared lots of photos that showed how much their boy lit up their lives. But now, until the court works out the divorce details, it might be some time before the ABC star sees his child again.

The New York Post reported that Nikki Garcia filed for divorce “on Wednesday, according to online records obtained.” Not much else came to light in the report. However, from the beginning, Nikki seemed to want to keep as much information to herself as possible. 

One thing that news outlets can assume is that there were visible marks of the victim which gave the police the right to detain the Dancing With the Stars professional. Artem Chigvintsev was charged with “a felony domestic violence charge… Visible injuries must be present for the suspected crime to be a felony.”

When the news about Nikki Garcia filing for divorce broke, u/GilbertVonGilbert shared it on Reddit. Plenty of ABC fans weighed in on the new developments. Here are some of their comments:

• The cycle of abuse is horribly brutal. Not only does it make you more likely to stay but it also results in tonnes of people blaming the victim for not getting out. Nobody deserves this. Hopefully, after this any visits to their child will always be supervised as well.
• Glad she was able to leave. There are so many times where the spouse stays for numerous reasons. Hope she had a great team with her during this whole ordeal.
• She wanted that happily ever after so badly and it seemed like she finally got it. My heart breaks for her. I hope she moves forward in a healthy way and finds her person, and that she and Artem can co parent in a positive way.
• I’m proud of her. It takes guts to leave, especially when there’s been violence at play. I wish her nothing but the best.
