1000-Lb Sisters fans are busy discussing some ancient photos of Tammy Slaton and her family that a TLC fan dug up from some archives. Shared on social media, fans were very interested in them, and some of them discussed a possible genetic leaning towards being overweight. Read on for more. 

TLC Star Tammy Slaton Was A Large Child

1000-Lb Sisters fans sometimes feel that Amy Slaton Halterman’s sister is grumpy and unreasonable. However, she struggled with her weight almost her entire life. When she and Amy Slaton talked about their childhood, they said that their mom had left them to eat mostly takeouts and drink sodas. 

Tammy Slaton has done amazingly well to lose so much weight. Her sister Amy lost weight but seems to struggle emotionally. Meanwhile, their sisters, Misty, and Amanda, and their brother Chris Combs all underwent gastric surgery. Certainly, weight problems seem to run in the family.

A TLC fan on Reddit went to great lengths to establish a few historical things about the 1000-Lb Sisters family. U/Anxious-Bicycle-5707 shared some old photos and explained more about them in their caption. Here is one showing Amy. Amanda, Misty, Chris, and Tammy. (Left to right).

After the genealogy episode I did some quick research. Here are some pictures of the siblings I found on Ancestry.com Pic 1: The 5 on the show (they also have numerous other siblings, full, half and step). Pic 2: Darlene with (I think) Misty, Amanda and Chris. Full name was Easter Darlene Ellis and she had other children so I could be wrong.
Pic 3: Amy and Tammy’s father, Larry Slaton. He was seemingly larger than his peers even in 7th grade so there may be some genetic defects in play with the girls.

Below, you can see the photo of Larry Slaton, which seems to be sometimes spelled as Slayton.

Here is the third photo supplied that seems to show Tammy Slaton’s mom Darlene Ellis with her kids, Misty, Amanda, and Chris.

Plenty of comments that arose in the discussions came tinged with sadness for Tammy Slaton and her siblings. Here are a few of those reactions:

• i just feel so bad for them. from cradle to a seemingly early impending grave they havent ever had a chance at healthy happy living. they all need a mom hug.
• That is so sad how their father was that big in 7th grade. I definitely think they have some genetic issues going on. Aside from weight, I think Amy has more developmental issues that Tammy.
• What the hell were they feeding Tammy?!
• I could never imagine Tammy being so big as a kid cause she has talked about how she was like 300+ pounds in high school but now I get it. They were taught such unhealthy habits clearly. So sad and I hope they are breaking generational trauma.
