1000-Lb Sisters – Amy Slaton Lost Control

When Amy fell pregnant with her son, Glenn, she seemed down at the gender reveal. Recall, she wanted a daughter, and she wasn’t all that happy that a second boy was coming along. Soon after she took the baby home, she started moaning about needing more help. Some 1000-Lb Sisters fans assumed she had postpartum depression.

When Amanda Halterman joined the supporting cast of 1000-Lb Sisters, TLC fans discovered that she had started divorce proceedings against Michael’s brother. If you cast your mind back to the infamous picnic when Glenn cried and Gage threw a tantrum, Amy Salton cried, but it was Amanda Halterman who made the scene about Michael not helping out. And, it was Amanda who later told Michael to get out of the house that Amy lived in.

Was Amanda Halterman Behind The Divorce?

Was that because Amanda had pushed her towards divorcing Michael? On Reddit, some 1000-Lb Sisters fans discussed the possibility of family influence.

It was TLC fan u/zihabibtizawja who raised the possibility that the family had influenced Amy Slaton’s divorce decision. In a very long post, the salient points included:

…I personally don’t think they would have even divorced had it not been for her family’s influence…she was an overwhelmed mom and she basically went scorched earth…she is in a much worse spot now [than] she ever was with Michael… … Michael was not the sharpest tool in the shed and may have slacked helping around the house…No man is perfect and there are much worse out there besides a lazy dodo bird like Michael …These are men she don’t know that she’s bringing into her home around her children… imo amy divorcing Michael was a big mistake and I think she was pressured and talked into it.

TLC Fans Discuss Amanda’s Possible Influence

In the comments section, some 1000-LB Sisters fans seemed to think that Amanda Halterman was probably the biggest influence on Amy Slaton.  Here are some of those opinions:

  • while I have always really liked Amanda I have to agree that since she was divorcing Michael’s brother she was probably in Amy’s ear about how bad Michael was. Especially since it seems like Amanda’s divorce may have been a rough one.
  • I always felt Amanda influenced her toward divorcing Michael because she had just gotten divorced as well. And if you remember, Amanda was there for Amy for the separation part of it but soon as Amy started breaking down under the stress of being a single parent, Amanda out and telling Amy to get her shit together. She didn’t want nothing to do with the mess of Amys life she helped influence.
  • Amen!!!!! She did push her 100% didn’t matter what anyone else suggested she listened to Amanda.
