90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days spoilers reveal that Niles has started to open up about his struggles when it comes to dating as someone with autism.

This came up when he made some comments to Matilda that upset her. He wanted viewers to know just how difficult is it to date when you are autistic. Let’s take a closer look at what he told the cameras.

90 Day Fiancé Spoilers – Niles’ Comments about Ghana

Matilda, Niles’ fiance, lives in Ghana and she helps her family to sell plantains as a way to make money. As he was helping her, he made a comment to her about how he felt as if Ghana was like a prison.

Of course, this upset Matilda and she mentioned that her mother may have heard him say it. She asked him if this comment was because he is autistic and it turns out that Niles was very worried about having this chat with her.

Niles told the cameras, “I think Matilda’s starting to understand that autism affects me in a big way, not the least of which is me being forthcoming with the truth. Even when I know what I’m supposed to do, actually following through is difficult.” He added that relationships and dating have never been easy for him and this one is no different.

Niles decided that he needed to tell Matilda about the different coping mechanisms he uses as a way to deal with his autism. He tells her that it is called “masking” and this is how people deal with things if they are autistic.

He tells Matilda that often he will make comments while masking, that could be seen as offensive to others. He doesn’t quite understand when to tell the truth and when he should be masking.

Matilda told him, “If it was me, you can say the truth. But you know that when we be going to my family’s place or public place… that one I don’t like.”

After having this talk with Matilda, Niles feels that he can be honest with her and he is going to try not to mask anymore. He thinks that this will be the best option for their relationship.
