90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days – How Did Chidi Go Blind?

Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days Season 7 debuts Chidi from Nigeria, and Rayne from New Mexico. She’s a few years older than him, but he is blind, and she’s not. Read on to find out how he lost his eyesight and how he and Rayne came to meet and be on the TLC show.

TLC fans already seem to like Chidi who hails from Lagos, a bustling city in Nigeria. Of course, they met Nigerians before, and Michael Ilesanmi is popular. But how did the blind man meet the chicken-farming mom of two from New Mexico? Well, spoilers revealed that they met online after he was recommended as a friend. They talked for five years and she feels ready to meet him.

Chidi seems determined to get by with his disability and he loves to play soccer. Well, his teammates all play soccer with blindfolds on to make it an equal match. However, it’s not clear how compatible the new 90 Day Fiance: Before The 90 Days couple might be.

He’s a Christian who believes God will help him, and she’s into sending sexy photos that he can’t see. It was only after he didn’t compliment her racy photo that she found out he was blind. 

How Did TLC Star Chidi Go Blind?

In a teaser for the TLC show, Chidi explained that when he was 17, a “friend climbed a tree and an apple fell and hit [him].” That hurt a lot, and it seemed to weaken his eyesight. Later, with his vision out of kilter, he fell against the corner of a desk and that damaged his remaining eye. 

In the comments on YouTube, TLC fans had a few things to say about Rayne and Chidi. Here are their initial impressions:

• Hearing his story of how he was perfectly healthy in terms of his vision but then losing vision in both eyes is so devastating.
• Two kids, two baby daddies, 150 chickens, and a Blind Nigerian Fiance you can’t make this up if you tried.
• It really bothers me how he went blind due to simple accidents. He seems like a nice guy hope he has true intentions by heart. They look cute together.
• GOD Bless the Nigerian man. Pray everything works out for them.
• If she marries Chidi, once he gets to America, he could get the medical care he needs to improve or fix his sight.
• …guy actually seems really sweet and it’s endearing to see a Christian practicing their faith.
