Victoria and Cole Howard (J. Eddie Peck) seem committed to helping Claire. Despite the things that Claire did, Victoria and Cole both feel empathy for the young woman.

While Cole and Victoria wait for the DNA test to come back, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) does his job as Claire’s defense attorney.

However, it seems the writers are trying to get Victoria out from under her father’s thumb. In fact, it was recently mentioned by Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) that Victoria isn’t as soullessly committed to her father as people think.

So, Michael plans on having Claire plead guilty, then having her sent to a psychiatric hospital instead of prison.

After Claire’s release, she will likely turn to Victoria and Cole to get her fresh start. If Victoria takes Claire in, then Victor and Nikki might take drastic action.

Victoria could become the next pariah of the Newman family, especially if bonds with Claire after the Oregon lakehouse incident. If this happens, Adam could extend an olive branch.

Not only does Adam understand what it means to be the black sheep of the family, but he might be able to offer some advice when it comes to troubled Claire.
