Y&R Spoilers: What Will A Conflicted Daniel Do?

The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal Daniel and Summer at odds over what to do about Phyllis. Perhaps Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) was correct when her first instinct was to tell Summer Newman Abbott (Alison Lanier) she was alive and not her other child, Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei). She knew Summer would keep her secret but Daniel is a whole other story.

Of course, Summer didn’t keep Phyllis‘ plight a complete secret because she ran and told Daniel almost immediately.

He was floored of course, but Summer had to convince him not to run straight to the cops. She thinks that her mission was accomplished but Daniel cannot keep this news to himself forever.

He knows this is all wrong and that the authorities should know what Phyllis did. He also warns his sister that her marriage is on the line if she keeps this from Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) any longer. Summer is put in a tough position, but then again, so is Daniel.

Not only is Summer keeping a secret from Kyle, but she is also allowing his mother to be accused of a crime she didn’t commit. Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) is clearly innocent of any wrongdoing considering that Phyllis is living and breathing and this is weighing on Daniel’s mind.

“Diane’s freedom is hanging in the balance in all of this,” Michael Graziadei said in the May 15, 2023, issue of Soap Opera Digest. “Knowing that an innocent woman is being charged, with the possibility of being tried and convicted, is not something that Daniel wants to have hanging over his head.”

A frantic Summer doesn’t seem to care about all of this. She only cares about her mother and not Kyle’s mother, despite the fact that Phyllis did a bad, bad thing. This in and of itself is driving Daniel insane.

“Summer is a bit of a chip off the old block there,” Graziadei said. “She’s being just like their mother. Summer throws it back in his face that she was wrong to trust him with this secret.”
