Y&R Spoilers: Summer’s Furious Reaction – Kyle Rationalizes Behavior

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers document that Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) learns that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) discarded her for Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver). That outrageous and impulsive choice naturally creates a furious response. Kyle thought himself into a stubborn corner, chose not to allow any space to get out, and believes nothing can be reversed. His intentional decision to cavort with Audra is intended to kill off his marriage.

The idea that Summer’s defense of her mother is so unacceptable that Kyle can never trust her again is absurd. Kyle is behaving like Summer did when she returned from the South, had stolen a boyfriend’s car, and behaved like a narcissist.

Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) trapped Summer. Lanier’s character was the first to be told that Phyllis was alive. Phyllis then made her daughter promise not to tell anyone, but she felt compelled to tell Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei).

Daniel urged Summer to tell Kyle the truth. But she did not. However, that was not a fatal marriage mistake.

As viewers recall, Kyle followed Summer to the Genoa City Athletic Club. He found Summer, Daniel, and Phyllis inside. Kyle said he was going to report Phyllis to the authorities but chose not to after she spoke to him.

So, Kyle was also persuaded just like Summer was. He has not mentioned that cogent plot point.

Audra uses her gifts of intelligence and beauty to manipulate people, specifically guys. But her ability to control them wears off over time, as Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) and, to a degree, Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John), know.

Kyle sees Audra as being his speed. He wants to use her to show Summer that he is done with her. That is not respectful of his wife or a sign of appreciation for Audra.

Silver’s character does care that Kyle is taking advantage of an opportunity. She intends to use him as a connected member of GC society.

Summer was consistently apologetic in recent weeks. She was hopeful that Kyle’s response to the Phyllis’ reveal was part of a pattern they lived through before.

But this time is different. Kyle has already moved on by becoming involved with Audra. Summer’s recognition of that reality means the end of her apology tour.

While anything can be reversed in daytime, it feels like this edition of the Summer and Kyle show is over on Y&R.
