Y&R: The Time When Summer Tricked Kyle

The Young and the Restless fans remember when the old Summer Newman (Hunter King) tricked Kyle into marrying her. It happened around the same time that she gave Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) her liver.

Some fans claim that she blackmailed him into making him think she was a good person. Summer did it so Kyle could fall back in love with her and marry her.

On the Tuesday, July 18th broadcast of The Young and the Restless, Summer confessed that she tricked Kyle into marrying her.

She admitted her mistake and fans are happy that she’s finally taking accountability for that moment. One viewer brought it up on the Soap Central forums.

“AHHH it was so nice to hear Summer say she tricked Kyle,” the thread was titled. “AHHH it was so nice to hear Summer say she tricked kyle [sic] into marrying her the first time when she gave Lola a liver organ It was not Trickery. It was blackmail!”

That storyline on Y&R caused controversy among fans. Most saw it as blackmail and trickery. Some haven’t even forgiven Summer for what she did.

However, some argued that Kyle was the one who brought up the idea of getting married. However, the storyline has been rewritten so much that fans can’t understand what happened.

“Exactly. So much rewrites on screen,” one fan argued. “No rewrite at all she gave her organ, her liver, so that Lola could live and Kyle could marry her,” another one noted.

The Young And The Restless: Is Summer In The Wrong?

This led some fans to wonder if Summer was in the wrong. One user argued that it all had to do with Summer.

She almost threatened to call off the wedding when Kyle showed up late. Initially, Kyle didn’t want to marry Summer. He was still in love with Lola and wanted her to live after she almost drowned in the Abbott pool.

Other fans noted another moment during that scene. They noted that it was great to see Summer bond with Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), who has been warming up to her.

Diane seems genuinely concerned about Summer since her marriage to Kyle ended. However, some fans think it was a rewrite like how Diane came back from the dead and everyone forgot she staged a murder.
