The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Sharon Rosales’ (Sharon Case) recent reunion with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) appears to have only been about revisiting and wrapping the Cameron Kirsten (Linden Ashby) case.

No romance appears to be ahead for one of this soap’s all-time couples, as Sharon chooses Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) instead. The death of Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) was shocking, leaving viewers stunned that Vilasuso’s well-liked character would be written off the show. It seemed strange that so much was invested in creating the Rosales family only to see all Rey’s family members leave Genoa City, Wisconsin.

Chance is a connection to Rey, as he was his partner on the GC force. So, there is believability in having Sharon bond with him.

The couple was only married once, with Case and Morrow’s characters marrying in 1995 and remaining so through 2006. That is another oddity of this pairing’s history.

It was unusual to have a then-young couple marry and sustain their union for more than a decade in real-time with soap-time being longer due to its fluid nature. Sharon and Nick dealt with each other’s betrayals and Newman’s family drama.

Cassie Newman’s (Camryn Grimes) death in 2005 was used as the propellant to end Sharon and Nick’s marriage, as his shift to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) broke the longstanding tie.

Sharon’s ability to maintain her mental health allowed her to effectively deal with Rey’s death. The mid-life maturity she and Nick share also allowed them to fully regain trust in recent years.

Chance is one of the people who help to keep the Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) wing of this show alive. His good-guy nature is something Sharon is drawn to, with that element of this character projecting to a fit with Case’s character long-term.

Any hopes fans of Sharon and Nick had for a potential romantic reunion appear to be dashed again, with Chance likely becoming her next love on Y&R.
