Phyllis followed the pattern of reckless behavior that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) have been chiding her for. She anonymously contacted Jeremy, using a burner phone, which is the only reason why he was able to reconnect with his nemesis, Taylor Jensen.

Diane was fully within her rights to work with the authorities to report Jeremy. He coupled with her under false pretenses.

The Young and the Restless spoilers show Jeremy made Diane in to a money laundering mule. But he passed himself off as a man who was in love with her and wanted to share the good life.

Diane was wrong to fake her death and live under an assumed name. But she did nothing known to be wrong when coupling with him and then did the right thing by reporting his criminal behavior, which led to his imprisonment for years.

Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey Bregman), another of Phyllis’ longtime friends, sat near her husband in the hotel that once represented a rise from the ashes. The Grand Phoenix hotel was the vehicle Phyllis used to reestablish her presence in Genoa City, Wisconsin, after returning from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Phyllis was thrown by Michael’s shout-out. He told her that Diane was not responsible for the troubles she is experiencing. Phyllis angrily dismissed Michael’s painful assessment and said something shocking. She wanted Diane to be dead.

Desperate soapy times call for a strong response. So it was not surprising to see Jeremy in Phyllis’ suite at the Phoenix.

The vulture has been circling Phyllis, assured that she would assist him in circling their prey. But the prey is Phyllis at this point in the plot.

Choosing to partner with Jeremy means that Phyllis will gain the ability to stop him. Yes, Phyllis can reverse negative momentum by choosing to turn against Jeremy in the end. But will her desire to get Diane to prevent that from happening on Y&R?
