Y&R Spoilers: Phyllis Deserves Respect – Summer And Daniel Are Wrong

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers document that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) wanted to offer gratitude to her children and best friend, Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey Bregman), who liked the finger sandwiches, cake, and champagne. But Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) and Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) were taken aback after being invited to a round table picnic in Chancellor Park.

They could not believe their mother was celebrating before learning about her tremendous life-altering news.

Yet, Phyllis telling them about all charges against her being dropped only bent Summer and Daniel’s attitudes more. While claiming to no longer be angry with the woman who gave birth to them, Phyllis’ children also rejected the offer to share their mother’s joy.

Daniel ran off to California with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and got married when he was young. Summer (then played by Hunter King) returned from a stay down south and behaved recklessly for a few years.

Both of Phyllis’ children have been on the outs with her before. Those periods eventually led to repairs and life went on.

Yes, Phyllis was wrong to fake her death. But she realized her mistake, was nearly killed by Jeremy Stark (James Hyde), and pleaded guilty to the crimes she committed. But Summer and Daniel see this storyline differently.

Y&R Spoilers – Jeremy Stark Was A Terrible Force

Jeremy could have killed Phyllis in that hotel room. He intended to do so after Phyllis insisted that she was going to tell her children she faked her death.

Hyde’s character did not believe Phyllis would protect his involvement in her ruse, believing she would turn him in. So, he felt compelled to kill her to defend his freedom after recently earning an early prison release.

Summer and Daniel continue to fixate on their feelings rather than realizing their mother would be dead if she did not defend her life by ending Jeremy’s.

Summer blames her mother for Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) leaving her. Daniel has not demonstrated proper gratitude to Phyllis, who flew to Portugal specifically intending to spark Heather Stevens’ (Vail Bloom) and Lucy Romalotti’s (Lily Brooks O’Briant) returns to Genoa City, Wisconsin.

Phyllis is not the reason why Kyle betrayed his marriage vows. He is responsible for that break from morality and impulsive coupling with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver).

Stafford’s character is also not responsible for Heather having fallen in love with another man in Portugal.

Deflection is a mind game one can play when trying to focus on the faults of others when avoiding one’s problems.

Summer and Daniel continue to use Phyllis’ admitted mistakes as a means to avoid the problems they have in their personal lives on Y&R.
