Y&R Spoilers: Melody Thomas Scott Remembers Suzanne Somers

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers show that Melody Thomas Scott has portrayed Genoa City, Wisconsin heroine Nikki Newman since 1979.

She is a fan fave and as the wife of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), the beautiful and talented actress has been a part of some of the show’s most powerful plotlines.

This weekend it was learned that television superstar Suzanne Somers passed away at the age of 77.

It just so happens that Scott has a connection to the late star, a tie that she mentioned to TV Insider in 2020 while she was talking about her sensational autobiography, “Always Young and Restless.” Read on to find out how Scott was tangentially connected to Somers.

According to Scott, at one time she dated Y&R makeup artist Carlos Yeaggy, but they kept their relationship on the downlow, with her calling him ‘Richard.’

“Three’s Company” was filmed on the same lot, and Scott said people assumed she was dating Richard Kline, who starred on the sitcom as Larry Dallas. Small world!

Scott also recalled that Somers’ co-stars John Ritter (Jack Tripper) and Joyce DeWitt (Janet Wood) had some ups and downs while filming and noted: “I had both John and Joyce at separate times frantically knock on my dressing room door, which was in the main hallway.”

Scott added “I opened my door once and John Ritter was there and he said, ‘Hi, I’m so sorry. I’m John Ritter. Can I come in here for a minute?’ I said, ‘Sure, okay!’ Initially, I had no idea what was going on.”

Scott relayed that the door knocking was apparently a way for the co-stars to escape the tension on the Three’s Company set, but Fox News reported that Somers and Ritter two made up before his 2017 death.
