Y&R Spoilers: Kyle And Summer Destined To Split?

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) is not inclined to take his aunt Traci Abbott’s (Beth Maitland) advice. The trouble he is having in his marriage may be unsolvable.

Recent years have seen Kyle and Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) live in wedded bliss. Their first marriage was a put-up. But the second union was real and allowed both people to achieve maturity.

But Summer’s cover for her mother came to Diane Jenkins’ (Susan Walters) great detriment. Kyle can not reconcile what his wife did and does not see a way out of the malaise.

Devoted viewers witnessed Diane (then played by Maura West) fake her murder. Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) was put through a legal wringer as a result.

Newer viewers have only heard about Diane’s crime because West recorded those fake murder scenes with Thomas Scott. Walters’ return to Y&R last year followed her initial run (2001 through 2010) on the show.

Kyle sees the difference between that situation and the one Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) recently pulled. He never covered his mother’s actions. Of course, he was just a child at the time Diane faked being killed and Kyle was not asked to do anything illegal when she announced her return in 2022.

Phyllis could not stand to see her children suffering. So, a matter of weeks after everyone was made to believe Phyllis was poisoned by Diane and then died in a fiery ambulance crash on a circuitous trip to the hospital, she revealed herself as alive.

Summer was contacted first because Phyllis believed she would keep her secret. She was right, and that was the genesis of the rift with Kyle.

Mealor’s character is right to be upset. But he refuses to reconcile the impossible position Summer was forced into by Phyllis.

Somewhere in Kyle’s mind, he is thinking about Summer’s repressed reckless streak. Before she settled down, he recalls the behavior Summer exhibited after returning to Genoa City, Wisconsin when this character was still played by Hunter King (Summer).

King’s edition of the character was purposely written into a wild phase, where she had to find herself. The translation means that Summer was self-involved and did not care how her actions affected others, including Kyle.

So, Kyle is unnerved because he can not be sure if any forgiveness, he offers Summer will prevent her reckless pattern from returning. He does not want his son, Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez), Diane, or any other loved one to be placed in harm’s way on Y&R.
