Traci has long been the Abbott family’s calming presence. The challenges she endured early in life and the loss of her daughter, Colleen Abbott (Tammin Sursok) produced an outlook that Jack and Diane should try to embrace.

It is hard to imagine that Colleen tragically died in 2009. Many characters have come and gone during those fourteen years.

Traci’s heart will never fully heal. But she is strengthened by close family ties. The audience also welcomes Maitland’s recurring presence in the cast.

Jack has convinced himself that he and Diane are older and wiser. He is right on the first point, which is also true of everyone on both sides of the screen.

The methods Diane used to announce her return to the living and the drama she has injected into Genoa City, Wisconsin, since moving back home prove that Kyle’s mother has not changed. She recognizes the impact of her actions on loved ones but continues onward, using an ends justifies the means outlook.

Kyle can see, as can anyone, that Jack will likely tire of Diane’s never-ending drama when it disrupts his family in some way that he believes is irreparable. Kyle also fears his mother will leave them if that happens. Jack tried to reassure Kyle, but not enough time has passed to make those promises meaningful.

Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) matured greatly during the last vestiges of Hunter King’s (Summer) run on Y&R. The recast to Lanier continues the growth of a character who was wild after returning to GC in recent years.

The once sweet, snowflake Summer became domineering. The games she played with Kyle’s revealed cousin, Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson), enraged Kyle. But those days are gone, as Summer’s world begins with her family.

Along with their son, Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez), Kyle should focus on growing Marchetti. His parents are fully mature and can steer their renewed romance on Y&R.
