Y&R Spoilers: Eric Braeden Defends Alec Baldwin

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers, news, and updates tease that Eric Braeden, who plays Victor Newman in the soap, defends Alec Baldwin from what happened in the set of the movie Rust.

Eric Braeden tweeted in defense of Alec, saying that he had been in a lot of TV shows and movie sets, and when it comes to weapons, it is usually the prop master’s responsibility to show the actor that the gun is empty. Usually, the prop master shows the barrel and magazine to prove the gun is empty. He added that it was never the actor’s responsibility.

Alec was recently charged with involuntary manslaughter after he accidentally shot Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust.

When some fans told Braeden that because Alec was a producer, he may still be responsible, he told them that it was not. He revealed that being an actor-producer just means giving the star more money on the backend of the film, especially if it’s a low-budget film.

He also said it is unusual for a producer to run the set, and it is either the assistant director or the production manager who runs it. Alec Baldwin was recently charged with involuntary manslaughter and weapons enhancement. But the weapons enhancement charge was dropped by the prosecutors, and Baldwin is still facing the involuntary manslaughter charge.

Halyna Hutchins, who was a cinematographer on the set of Rust, was fatally shot during a shoot in New Mexico in 2021. The film’s director, Joel Souza, was also left injured during the incident.

According to Baldwin’s affidavit, the gun was handed to him by the assistant director, Dave Halls. The gun should not have contained live rounds. He also added that Halls said cold gun, which means that it is harmless. So, Baldwin assumed it was and was working on his stunt of drawing the gun from the holster when it went off.

Since the firearm enhancement was dropped and the involuntary manslaughter charge is still on the table, Alec Baldwin could face a lighter sentence. He pleaded not guilty to the charges. Braeden continues to defend Baldwin, saying that the prosecutor wanted to go after Baldwin, who is just an actor on the set. He also said that it is a miscarriage of justice.

Braeden has been in The Young and The Restless since 1980 and has been in 3,941 episodes of the series, according to his IMDb page.
