Cheating on Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) did not lead to Elena betraying Nate’s trust. However, she should have recognized Nate’s pattern.

Dominic’s character demonstrated that he did not care about morality when partnering with Victoria during their attempt to seize Chancellor-Winters. That happened at a point in the plot before Victoria made her feelings known for him.

Sarpy’s character decided that she was meant to be with Nate, choosing to believe that what seemed to be love made them impenetrable to trust issues.

Victoria was used to Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) falling at her feet seven days a week. That went on for years, and she was often in the position of propping him up.

The attraction to Nate followed the disastrous marriage to Ashland Locke (Robert Newman). Getting past that publicly humiliating period also included burying herself in work.

Nate’s idea, about becoming the head of CW after an initial public offering, was something Victoria championed.

She believed he had the killer instinct that is needed to thrive in the business world, and also gravitated to his personal appeal. A mix of loneliness also played into the timing of Victoria’s pairing with Nate.

Nate’s career is fine. He wanted to get into the business world and, after being booted from CW due to his betrayal, landed at one of the world’s great conglomerates.

Sensing opportunity meant getting close to the boss. Victoria offers him access to business potential he likely would have nowhere else.

Losing Elena will be hard. But Victoria will be there. Nate seems likely to get over Elena and move forward with the new life he has been pursuing for months on Y&R.
