The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers document that Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) believes that she has to prove herself.

While the love of her life and now husband, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), disagrees, she made a meaningful gesture that he grudgingly accepted.

Jack did not see the need for Diane to have given him a prenuptial agreement. After some cajoling, he signed the document.

But Jack also made a modern move. He snapped a digital photo with his smartphone and sent it through the internet to Ashley Abbott McCall (Eileen Davidson).

To the victor goes the spoils is a phrase generally reserved for this show’s leading man, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). But in this instance, it is offered in honor of Diane, who is one of his ex-wives.

Jack’s first-time wife deserves credit for making one of the great comebacks, and not just from the dead.

She single-handedly held steady and defeated the repeated efforts of three tough opponents in Ashley, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford).

Along the way and most impressively, Diane earned the trust of her son and the man she loves, Jack. Those were not victories. They were accomplishments she can be proud of.

Jack had every right to be enraged at what Diane pulled. Faking her death during Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) childhood scared him and left Jack to soldier on.

The mega reveal in Los Angeles, California, was manipulative because Diane used Jack’s deceased son, Keemo Volien Abbott Nguyen (Philip Moon), and his daughter, Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang), as tools to tell Jack the truth.

But any attempt to explain what she did would have been critiqued with a fluid set of criteria.

As long as Diane does not give Jack a reason to legitimately doubt her, she has done enough to prove herself.

Tucker wants Ashley to move on. Even he recognizes that Diane genuinely cares for Jack.

Ashley has the man she appears to have loved more uniquely than any other, including Diane’s ex, Victor.

So, with that and good relationships with Abby Newman Abbott (Melissa Ordway) and Dominic Newman Abbott Winters Chancellor (Rainn and River Ware), then why chose to focus on Jack and his wife?

Simply Ashley can happen more easily because of Jack’s wedding gift. So, she should take it and have a good life on Y&R.
