The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers document that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) believes he sent his father over the edge. Longtime viewers know that this Newman pairing has a deeply contentious history that built to this plot point across the years. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) was fed up.

He gave Adam so many second chances, yet his youngest son’s continued duplicity upset him, other family members, and possibly most importantly, the flow of business. So, he developed and implemented a treacherous plan to trap his problem child.

Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) was upset because she believed her father unjustly punished her for the problems that Adam caused. Her assessment omits her partial lack of focus in recent months which was caused by non-Adam factors but is generally right.

Chris Engen (Adam) became the first SORAS’d (soap opera rapid aging syndrome) adult edition of this character in 2008. He deserves credit for opening a new chapter in what became a classic father-son rivalry.

Michael Muhney (Adam) became the recast for Adam in 2009. His specific efforts greatly expanded the rivalry with Victor, taking it to heights that had not been seen. While Muhney’s run was not as long as he wanted it to be or TPTB hoped, it surely was memorable on-screen.

Justin Hartley (Adam) became the next version of this character, working from 2014 through 2016. This actor, who went on to nighttime stardom, provided a different view of Adam that provided the audience with a laudable freshening.

Victor loves himself as much as he does his wife, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), his children, and his grandchildren.

The child who reminds him most of himself was Victoria. But that was until Adam grew up and began challenging him.

Adam lacks facial hair. He also does not have his father’s wisdom.

Victor is resilient, surviving a rough childhood and making himself into one of the world’s best-known men. All the opportunities he has given to his children have not been appreciated, with Adam consistently being the least grateful.

But Victor is, without question, this soap opera’s leading man. The character Braeden has portrayed since 1980 is the reigning persona in this fictional town.

Many fans grew up watching their favorite daytime shows with parents, other family members, and friends, some of whom are now watching with Cooper from above. Soap operas are an escape from reality and are best shared with those we care about.
