Y&R Spoilers: Abbott Family War & Jerry Douglas Tribute

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that it has been a long time since John Abbott (the late Jerry Douglas) died. Seventeen years in real-time to be exact. But some of the same issues the Abbott family patriarch resolved reared their heads again in Genoa City, Wisconsin. Major kudos to the writing staff for presenting an episode where one of the show’s most beloved characters and actors was fittingly honored.

Douglas debuted as John in 1982; and last appeared in 2019. John was a major character for decades, with the expansion of Jack Abbott’s (originally portrayed by the late Terry Lester and portrayed by Peter Bergman since 1989) backstory.

The celebration of Y&R’s fiftieth anniversary was furthered by a great episode that wove flashbacks and John’s ongoing influence into the storyline.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Zelda Winston Arrives In Genoa City

Douglas is surely looking down from above and is happy that his widow, Kym Douglas (Zelda Winston), made her Y&R debut. Fans met Traci Abbott’s (Beth Maitland) book New York-based book agent.

Special presentations and the episodes that are built from them are most believable when a portion of the plot is presented respectfully to the audience. So, it made complete sense that Traci’s agent would be visiting GC.

Zelda’s advice to Traci, that she speak with her family about John’s sage advice during times of family strife, was perfect. Hopefully, Jack, John’s beauty, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) make the most of Traci’s message.

Y&R Spoilers – Jack Abbott And Ashley Abbott Consider Compassion

The sight of Ashley and Jack sitting in the fabled Abbott mansion living room at the end of this episode was wonderful. Many family disputes have taken place in that setting. But others were settled as well.

Jack’s beef with Ashley involves her contempt of Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) and his distrust of Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John). Ashley believes Diane will destabilize Jabot if Jack allows her to gain a prominent position.

This brother and sister duo have loudly fought through the decades. But they have also found a way to make amends. Hopefully, the peaceful resolution Traci is pushing happens soon.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Kyle Abbott Needs To Listen To His Mother

Speaking of family, Diane is legitimately Summer Newman Abbott’s (Allison Lanier) champion. Diane wants her son to forgive Summer and not put his marriage at risk.

Diane has sympathy for Summer. Both ladies felt compelled to respond to events Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) put in motion.

John’s sense of fairness is something Traci mentioned. She also noted that he believed in redemption on Y&R.
