Burgi notes in his social media post that it’s been a tough “year and a half” for him. He states that he lost a “great job” over something that had nothing to do with his “work as an artist”. He goes on to say that with more difficulty, his marriage ended.
Fans may recall that in January 2022, Y&R let the actor go after he accidentally went against COVID-19 protocols that were put in place for the show’s cast and crew.
In the end, actor Robert Newman was recast in the role to carry out Ashland Locke’s storyline with the soap.
Back to the IG post, the actor notes that divorce is both devastating and painful; however, it does look like Burgi is on a path toward healing.
The actor states that the good Lord has a way of leading people to things they need and away from things they don’t.
Burgi reveals that the loss of a relationship, job, or anything else important is like death and takes time, family, and nurturing places or people to get through it. Dick also notes that he’s in a “great place” and grateful for his “beautiful life”; ending the post with, “onward!”
Here’s hoping brighter days are ahead for Richard Burgi; however, looks like he’s already well on his way to happier times.
