Yellowstone Stars On Getting Covered In Cow Poo While Filming

One unusual side to our favorite modern Western series Yellowstone is what happens to the cast while they are filming.

While Yellowstone is many viewers’ top favorite on Paramount, it turns out the show is also kept authentic, with cow poo all over the set. In fact, Jen Landon, who plays ranch hand Teeter, has her own portable shower handy, as she gets “covered in cow poo poo” all day while filming. Meanwhile, Landon isn’t alone, as Piper Perabo and Kelsey Asbille have also opened up about the conditions while filming on set.

Speaking to People as part of the magazine’s upcoming Beautiful Issue, Jen Landon, who plays the only female ranch hand, Teeter opened up about how dirty things are. In fact, while filming at the fictitious ranch, she regularly finds herself “in cow poo poo all day” while filming. Meanwhile, she gets so dirty, she doesn’t even bother to put on makeup. Jen added:

There were days when we were literally covered in sh*t from head to toe.

Jen isn’t a stranger to being out on the prairie, as she is the daughter of Bonanza and Little House on the Prairie star, Michael Landon. However, she added that she takes along her own portable shower while filming so that she can rinse off wherever she is.

Describing the shower, Landon says she bought it on Amazon. “You blow up the ring and you can put it in a tiny shower and sit in this soaking tub,” she said, adding, “I have to be in the bath every night.”

Meanwhile, Jen isn’t alone, as her costar. Kelsey Asbille, who plays Monica Dutton said that while she isn’t a ranch hand, “there’s usually dirt and blood involved” when filming. Asbille added:

Those are heavy days and because she’s really going through it there is a physical and emotional cleanse.

Moreover, Piper Perabo, who stars as Summer Higgins supported her two female costars, saying, “I wipe the blood off with a hot washcloth and I go home.” In fact, she said that she cleans up before leaving the set in case she has to “stop and get gas or something.”

Piper added that it is hard to explain in the little town where they work, where if your face is covered in blood, one of the guys will ask if you need some help.

Learning what these ladies go through on the set only makes us want part 2 of season 5 of Yellowstone to finally arrive, as we now know how authentic the scenes are. It’s a dirty job, but someone’s got to do it!
