In recent months, Yellowstone lead Kevin Costner has been having a difficult year. Not only did rumors fly about his role in the modern Western, but this led to its cancelation after season 5. On top of this, his wife of 18 years has filed for divorce. Meanwhile, the Dances with Wolves actor recently took to Instagram to thank his loyal fans for their support.
Kevin Costner thanks fans after shocking Yellowstone cancelation
Since the first half of Yellowstone season 5 ended in January, rumors about the show and its lead actor have been going wild. In fact, Deadline reported that Kevin Costner was only prepared to spend a week filming part 2 of season 5, which returns in November 2023.
After Paramount was allegedly unable to come to an agreement with Costner, the network addressed the rumors by announcing that the hit modern Western show would end its run after the finale of season 5 airs.
If this wasn’t bad enough, it was recently reported that Costner’s wife of 18 years, Christine Baumgartner, had filed for divorce, basically breaking the Oscar-winning actor’s heart.
Costner reflects on his ‘long and wild’ career
While up until now, Costner has kept quiet about the drama, he recently made an Instagram post to thank his fans. The actor shared an image from his 1993 movie, A Perfect World, co-starring Clint Eastwood and Laura Dern. In his caption, Kevin wrote, “I love reflecting on this long and wild career. Thank you guys for coming along for the ride.”
Costner’s fans were quick to respond to his Instagram post, offering support to the actor and sharing their favorite movies. One fan wrote, “A long and successful career. I admire you, @kevincostnermodernwest . Keep strong and determined to follow your dreams.❤”
Meanwhile, another wrote, “A long and successful career. We love you Kevin….you are the best,” while another noted, “You still look handsome as ever.” One of his followers confirmed that they are “still in for the ride,” writing, “Whatever you do, we’ll watch it and love the hell out of it ! ❤.”
On the subject of Costner’s role as John Dutton, another follower wrote, “Still as handsome as this photo. Please don’t leave Yellowstone. We’re not ready. ❤”
Western movie series, Horizon
As the actor’s fans know, Costner, 68, is currently busy with a new project that allegedly took him away from Yellowstone. The actor has reportedly been planning the Western movie series, Horizon, which will feature four movies relating to the Civil War. According to Deadline, Costner is starring, directing, writing and producing the movies and even put up his own money to finance the project. Meanwhile, besides the Yellowstone actor, Kathleen Quinlan, Glynn Turman and Giovanni Ribisi are also set to star.
While fans are disappointed that Yellowstone is coming to an end, they are no doubt looking forward to watching Horizon and their favorite star, Kevin Costner.
