Yellowstone is the gift that keeps on giving after it was found that half of 6.6 million viewers on CBS hadn’t seen the hit modern Western show before. The series has a brand new audience of 3.3 million, clamoring for the next episode. Meanwhile, Yellowstone has previously attracted 8.19 million live viewers on Paramount Network for the latest episode in January.
Yellowstone attracts a new audience on CBS
According to CBS, half of its 6.6 million viewers had never seen Yellowstone before, giving the modern Western new life. Meanwhile, it is also the most popular series on Paramount Network, attracting 8.19 million live viewers in the latest episode.
According to Variety, this means that 3.3 million viewers were unfamiliar with the series until they started watching it on CBS. Moreover, these new viewers will likely stick with the modern Western series until the end. In fact, it is speculated that CBS viewers might even switch over to Paramount Network for Yellowstone season 5 part 2 when it finally airs.
Why is CBS airing the hit modern Western?
The decision to air Yellowstone on CBS came as there were no new scripted prime-time episodes in the fall. This comes due to the recently ended writers’ strike and the ongoing actors’ strike. Meanwhile, seeing the massive new audience reveals that this decision was a good one.
Moreover, its success on CBS could draw viewers to watch the various Yellowstone spinoffs available on Paramount+, which were a definite hit for the streamer. Among these are the prequels 1883 and 1923, along with the prequel 1944k which is still in development. Meanwhile, a direct sequel to Yellowstone itself is coming, starring Matthew McConaughey, which is likely to draw more viewers.
When will Yellowstone season 5 part 2 air on Paramount+
While fans are clamoring to watch the final episodes of the hit modern Western, it is still unknown when it will finally air. Of course, the ongoing SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike and tensions between Yellowstone’s lead actor, Kevin Costner and its creator Taylor Sheridan aren’t helping.
However, with the show’s new popularity on CBS, with 3.3 million new viewers, this could likely help to get those final episodes on fans’ screens.
