Yellowstone 1883 Star Sam Elliott Wants To Do Another Cowboy Prequel

Veteran actor Sam Elliott recently starred in season one of the Yellowstone prequel, 1883 and isn’t done with the franchise yet.

While 1883 star Sam Elliott originally shot down a role on Yellowstone, it seems he is not yet done with the Dutton family’s ranch. In fact, after starring in the prequel 1883, Elliott would love nothing better than to star in another prequel series. The actor, who is the quintessential cowboy, has obviously changed his mind about Taylor Sheridan’s hit series.

Taylor Sheridan’s hit series Yellowstone continues to grow with the series hitting its fifth season and several prequel series in tow. The hit modern Western series is centered around the iconic Dutton family and has become a worldwide smash. Just to prove that you can’t have too much of a good thing, 1883 star Sam Elliott is clamoring for more prequel content.

Fans will recall that the actor played Shea Brennan in the Yellowstone prequel series 1883. His character is a Civil War veteran who leads from Dutton family from Texas to Montana. That series ran for ten episodes before coming to a close in 2022.

Meanwhile, speaking to Variety, Elliott spoke of the end of the show, while revealing his wish for another Yellowstone prequel series, saying:

I think everybody was sad to see it over; I know I was. I would have liked to have that wagon train go to Canada by then and just stay with it.

My thought was, ‘Let’s do a prequel of this. Where was LaMonica? Where were those two guys? Pick it up after the war, when they were Pinkertons. There’s plenty of stuff to do.

Meanwhile, it seems the actor’s wish isn’t totally farfetched. Variety noted that “A future spin-off of 1883 isn’t entirely off the table.”

Bearing in mind the major success of the original series Yellowstone and its several prequels, it is possible that this could happen. In fact, fans might see Shea returning to the post-Civil war generation of the Dutton family tree in the future. However, it isn’t likely to happen soon. Currently, Yellowstone fans are already looking forward to a number of spinoffs. These include 6666, 1944, Bass Reeves and the second season of 1923.

Meanwhile, with fans clamoring for the return of Yellowstone season 5 part 2, it isn’t unlikely that Elliott will have his wish granted soon. Keep posted for more news of the hit modern series and its prequels.
