Worst Murder ‘Mystery’: Nick Killed Ashland On The Young And The Restless

The Young and the Restless introduced Ashland Locke as the Locke Ness Monster, a big, bad scary guy who Kyle Abbott needed to fear. That was quickly dropped and what happened in the ensuing year was a whirlwind of contrived confusion that nobody really understood. His death is included in all that confusion.

The Young And The Restless – Lost Its Ashland Locke Way

Within months, the Locke Ness Monster didn’t care about Kyle’s (Michael Mealor) affair with his crazy wife, Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner), or losing his ‘son’ with Tara after learning that Kyle was Harrison’s real father. Instead, he was more concerned with winning over Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and making her believe he had cancer.

Ashland (first played by Richard Burgi, then Robert Newman) was pretty convincing with his cancer and even faked being sick after fake chemotherapy. He even had a supposedly smart doctor like Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) believing he had cancer and when he was found out, Nate felt like a fool, and Ashland’s new wife, Victoria, was out for revenge.

Y&R Spoilers – Ashland Locke’s Death Was Deja Vu…Until It Wasn’t

It felt like 2017 all over again when Ashland went to seek his own revenge on Victoria on a dark and stormy night, lurking around her house like a common JT Helstrom (Thad Luckinbill). Like JT, Ashland started to get violent with Victoria and a family member came to her rescue.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) knew there was something up with his sister and headed over to her house. When he saw Ashland getting rough, he punched him out, Ashland’s head landed on the fireplace ledge, and he died just like that. When JT was allegedly killed, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) saved her daughter with a fireplace poker.

However, Y&R changed things up a bit by having Ashland’s body disappear immediately. Yay, a mystery! Um, no. It soon reappeared dead behind the wheel of a car and it turned out Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) set the whole thing up to help Nick and Victoria out a jam. And nobody spoke of Ashland again. Ho hum. The End.
